the mighty boosh and miss dolly parton have enriched my life

alright lets get this started. i dont know how many people are aware of this but last sunday i was blessed with the chance to go to a concert in central and this concert was none other than DOLLY PARTON!!!!!! HOLY MOLY! ok let me back up....

so when i was home over christmas break i went to go say goodbye to my dad at work and when i got there i was offered FREE dolly parton tickets for march. i snatched those right up and basically left skipping. so i rounded up 4 other people (some dolly fans and some not, but all of us curious to see this 61 year old woman perform in sparkles) and we went to wembley stadium. our tickets were at will call under the guest list (man oh man did we feel special!) we found our seats...and they were amazing. we were so close it was crazy. she came out in this crazy sparkly outfit and sang her heart out. she put on a really good show and she was really funny. she was taking cracks at herself with the way she was dressed and her giant boobs. it was really funny. and did you know that she is one of 12 kids??? i sure didnt! and she is only 5 foot and has such a TINY waist, insane. it was funny too cause she sang songs that i had no idea that she was the one singing them. so all in all it was a really good concert and i encourage everyone to go see dolly in concert if you get the chance.

many people may be wondering what are you talking about kathleen??? so its this comedy duo with julian barratt and noel fielding and they play these best friends howard moon and vince noir and the are zoo keepers at zooniverse anyways its a show about the things that they get into and what not, and it makes me laugh so hard its unbelievable. AND they have some live dvds out and i purchased one yesterday and let me tell you what....BEST 6 POUNDS I EVER SPENT IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!! we got a bunch of people over last night and watched it and i was lauging for about 2 1/2 hours straight, it made me so happy. by the time it was over my mouth hurt from having a perma smile on my face. i felt like my face would never stretch back into normal....so funny, my face was litterally sore. hahahaha, just so funny. anyways i guess i am blogging about this to encourage everyone to join the boat and watch the mighty boosh. its very british humOUr but i tell you what...its soooooooooooooooooooooooo funny. its all on youtube, now do it! i made my sister watch one episode, and she thought it was funny. oh goodness...

oh i forgot i leave for norway tomorrow, should be a good time. we are doing a quick trip for only like 4 days to oslo and bergen. go back to my people and see if they treat me like a queen...you know same ole same ole.

alright so i believe there is a bit of catch up in order here...

so on tuesday a bunch of us went into central cause ages ago we made a booking to go see a play called equus ( i believe i have referenced this play in previous blogs...my avid readers will have picked up on this!) anyways it stars daniel radcliffe or as the world knows him....HARRY POTTER! now dont get your knickers all in a twist, let me tell you about the play. daniel plays a disturbed kid who has to go to therapy for blinding 6 horses with a hoof pick. and the whole play is him in therapy (his therapist is played by richard griffiths a.k.a uncle vernon from harry potter) and alan strang (daniel radcliffe) getting through his problems. it is a very heavy play and i would not want to perform it everyday, and twice for a matinees on wednesdays and sundays...no thank you. but basically alan strang believes that horses are a form of jesus and he is creepily obssessed with them...it was a really good play and at one part he ends up getting totally naked. so that was an experience all in its own. yeah.

anyways after the play we bolted to the pack stage door to see if we could score an autograph, of course there are people out there already fixing their makeup and checking to see if they have anything in their teeth to try and impress a 17 year old who they think is just "brilliant". 1 out of 4 of us got his autograph, but we did get pictures. he is actually really short ( but arent they all) probably about 5'6 or 5'7.... AND the best part is that he is trying to grow a beard (and not very well mind you) as you can see from the pictures he has like 4 hairs on each side rockin.... i plan to go back sometime when i know the play is about out so i can get in line around the barricades before everyone else so i can go grab his autograph and some others from the play and bolt, getting off on my merry way....

wednesday-friday was boring i did nothing but homework and still feel like i accomplished nothing.

so saturday (or today)....

jenna, courtney, amaya, and myself made the hour trip by bus to a little place called thorpe park. an amusement park, and we had the best time ever!!!! we said nevermind to the terribly cold weather and went for it. (mind you about 4 hours in we were all freezing). there were about 4 good big rides...one including (and the main reason for our visit, it was also the grand opening of it) stealth. how cool does that sound??? really! the deal is you go from 0-80 in 2.3 seconds and you go up 202 feet and down basically at a 90 degree angle for about 2 seconds. amazing. it doesnt look like much from the picture or actually up close, not until you are actually riding it does it dawn on you how magical this ride really is. it quickly became my fav!

a bummer thing about this amusement park is that it really attracts what the british call chavs, or as we say white trash. there were so many teenage chavs running around it hurt. i felt my status in society falling while around them. they were rude and ALL thought that they were the coolest in the park (which obviously wasnt ture if we were in there...duh). the other rides that this place included was one called the inferno something. but the main part is the inferno, that one rocked the feet hanging method, while colossus went with the traditional car with 10 loops and twists in it. amazing. AND one of my personal favourites turned out to be one called the flying fish, it was a really lame roller coaster obviously built for kids too old for little kid rides but not big enough for the big thrill rides. it was so intense that it actually was given a camera (like a thrill ride) to capture your excitment....this was jenna and i's:

at one point jenna and i decided to sit some out cause we had headaches ( i think mine was from lack of water) anyways the other girls went on some twirly ones and jenna and i messed around

we found some random door while waiting for the girls to get off of zodiak. we dubbed it the secret lab and this is what i would look like if you discovered me going into my lab when i didnt want you too...

speaking of the zodiak ride, this ride looks like a ferris wheel when it is in full swing with individual carts that hold two people in them. of course you are spinning around and around and go upside down and all sorts. anways while waiting for the girls to get off the ride jenna and i spied these two boys who were obviously really excited to go on this ride. turns out (from amaya and courtney) that once you get going there is no actual seatbelt holding you in and the person in front is basically sitting in the other's lap because it is one big seat. but when you go upside down its sorta a free-for-all in there. so i renamed that ride death trap, and was glad that i didnt go on it.

jenna and i laughed really hard when we saw this....oh what fun an amusment park can really be.

us on what i called the fine china ride (better known as the teacup ride) those are our posh faces because the china we were in looked very posh, little did i know that while turning the wheel in the middle to go faster my hand would cramp for a second making me laugh very hard...so hard i almost peed my pants. man, that ride was fun.

anyways the whole day we managed to keep the rain away, which is good cause otherwise i would of been a very unhappy camper. but all in all thorpe park was really amazing, and a really fun fun fun way to spend a saturday. i doubt anyone will but i will throw this in here too http://thorpepark.com you can all check it out if you wanna. okwell i hope you all enjoyed my adventures, sorry i didnt slay any dragons or risk my life to save a kitty from a tree, but i rock different kinds of adventures!!!!

good thing i bought a sparkly cowbay hat with the english flag on it for 3 pounds at thorpe park to wear to dolly tomorrow...i am gonna be so cool!!!! ALRIGHT!

happy st. patrick's day!!!!!!

alright as many of you know last saturday was st. patrick's day. and just because i am over here does not mean that i did not celebrate it...because i did. word on the street is that london is one of the top places to celebrate st. patrick's day, even over dublin or other places in ireland. and i believe it. central london was crazy on saturday. but it was amazing. just the atmosphere where ever you went was happy and buzzing. does that makes sense??? and i am sure that the rugby games that were on (6 nations is still going on) helped too. the first game was scotland v. ireland and the last game was england v. somebody. the point is that saturday was a BIG day! we joined a pub crawl called the monopoly pub crawl (its one of the better known london pub crawls) and we got out gear (shirts, hats, and buttons) and were on our way.

anyways the crawl criss-crossed us across london having us start in whitechapel (yes, were jack the ripper is from) and ended in liecester square. it was a long day and we meet so many cool people. we actually didnt finish cause we ended up bailing and meeting up with the rest of our flatmates who were watching rugby at a pub in liecester...

also one of my flatmates, courtney, and another one of my friends, jenna, were in ireland and came back to london on st. patrick's day so we also met up with...after awhile at least. it took us awhile for us all to get together since there was some direction troubles. but once we all got together... everyone had a really really good time. unfortunately i didnt get to see the fountains in trafalgar square turned green, i was just never over there during the day. not until dark did i actully walk over there...and that was only to catch a bus home.

also side notes. tomorrow (or march 21st) i am going to go see equus, the "harry potter" play. should be good i am hoping. also this sunday (if all goes right) i am gonna go see dolly parton perform. should be good. and the best part is that my break is coming up!!! yes that means i basically have a month off of school to go travel around... and i am going to!!! the plan is to go to norway for about 4 days then come back to london to see my dad who is gonna be here for about a day and a half. then on easter i pack and head out to rome, athens, and the greek isles for about 10 days. i am really really really really really excited. but then again who wouldnt be???? it is too bad though because i was gonna try and plan it so i could be in rome when sarah, mike, the kids, along with nana and papa are gonna be there...but the timing didnt quite work out. bummer.

anyways so that is a look into my life and i am sure you will be hearing from me soon....until then my people...

OKEE DOKEY!!!! so it has been just a little while since i have posted and something major happened, and that happening was having my friend from back home (a majority of you already know her) JESSICA POTTER!!! she is going to school in spain for the school and she came over for a long weeknd and we had just the best time ever. here is a breakdown of our swee sweet adventures.

ok well she and nils, he is guy from germany that went to school in spain last semester that i meet when i was visiting jessica, came in very late at night in cenral london at liverpool street. anyways i wasnt really excited to go in and get them by myself since the underground would be closed and since the first time i was ever on a central bus i got crazy lost i was a little hesitant to take the buses so late at night with people depending on me....so courtney came with me!!!! courtney and i went in a little early to go play around in central before we had to grab the other two and when we were walking around we ended up in the "theatreland" district in and around picadilly circus and leicester square that houses all the theatres for the most part. ok well long story short we were outside the theatre that has equus playing it just got out. for those of you who dont know it is starring daniel radcliffe, aka harry potter, so courtney and i went to the stage door and saw him. and he is short. but that was a little brush with fame...and i am going to go see the play in about 2 weeks anyways. should be good. if you want to check it out http://www.equustheplay.com/ it is for sure anything but a easy going play, its very heavy.

ok i am gonna pick this blog up a bit... so we grabbed nils and jessica and raced our booties back to london waterloo train station and grabbed the last train out to surbiton. now surbiton is about a 35 minute walk back to my flat...good thing it was a semi nice out. once we all got back we had some tea and buttered noodles and hit the sack.

so friday was uber tourist day see the sights kind of thing. we bumped into waterloo crossed the thames walking towards big ben and parliament with the london eye behind us. we crossed to westminster abbey, walked through st. jame's park towards buckingham palace. when we got to the palace i we all noticed that there were union jack flags EVERYWHERE. i looked up to the flag pole on top of the palace and instead of the normal union jack the queen's coat of arms was flying indicating that she was home.....that is about as close as i have ever been to the queen.

**** side note, my flatmate went to hampton court palace with her father and friends the other day, and they sure picked a good day to go since prince charles made a surprise visit...and he totally talked to them, im jealous*****

from the palace we found a gaurd to take our picture with, ate lunch in trafalgar square (fish and chips no less...the same place i took mary when she was here), jumped down to kensington gardens and found the peter pan statue, walked through harrods, went up to king's cross to see platform 9 3/4, and then over to the tower of london and the tower bridge. it was the most criss cross travel across london i have ever down. it was full of fun but totally tiring!!!!

we hoped a train back to kingston and got ready to go out. jess had with her a homemade karaoke cd so we jumped around and danced to that while nils just looked at us and shook his head. too bad but nils wasnt feeling to hot so he stayed in while we all went out. we danced the night away and then came back home. it was fun.

the next day nils had to go back to germany (yeah a very short trip..but it was a lot cheaper to fly out on saturday than sunday) so jessica and i dropped him off at the train station at liverpool street and we went and grabbed lunch at a place called wagamama in leicester square. its this really good japanese food, where you sit at these really long tables that you share with others and you eat really fancy ramen. its sweet check it out.... http://wagamama.com/ but we couldnt dilly daddle too long cause we had to make it to the apollo victoria theatre to go see Wicked!!!! i know i know i already saw this play but it is soooooooooo amazing i could see it every day. it may sound a little over the edge but i am so serious about it. it was won more tony's than i can count and the lead in the london production is said to be the best Elphaba (the main character's name) of all the Elphabas (does that makes sense???) anyways its about the wicked witch of the west (elphaba) and glinda the good before dorothy shows up in oz. its amazing and i think everyone should go if they get a chance!!!!! http://www.wickedthemusical.co.uk/

after that we hit a train home and went out again...still fun but not as fun as the night before. sunday rolled up and we had to get jessica to the train station so she could hop to stansted airport. we got her there in time, we said our goodbyes and then she was gone (boo). but all in all it was a really good weekend and as she left amaya (my flatmate) had two friends arrive for the week on their spring break. which was really fun having them here...they are really nice. we ended up doing a jack the ripper walking tour. it was really amazing...and detailed. i thought that i knew a fairly good amount of information about jack the ripper, but there was a bunch more to it than i knew. and as of right now there are still 171 different suspects that they have for jack the ripper. did you know he was the world's first serial killer...sucked to be a prostitute in whitechapel in those days.

ok well i have gone on for too long that is for sure so i think i will end it........
